Rally Cap

Welcome to Rally Cap - Baseball Canada's Official Initiation Baseball Program!

The Rally Cap Program is an initiative to give players and coaches their first positive experience with the game of baseball! It helps teach players the five FUNdamentals of baseball - fundamental movement skills, throwing, receiving, hitting, and base running - in a fun and safe environment.

Players have the opportunity to learn, practice, and perform different baseball skills to progress through the levels of the program.

Baseball Manitoba has adopted Baseball Canada's Rally Cap as the entry-level program for the 4-7 age group. Age categories within this range are determined by each club or league.

Program Format

• Sessions involve three teams of six players that meet at the park at the same time
• Two teams play a 20-minute game, while one team practices in the outfield
• Every 20 minutes, teams rotate so that each team:
  • Plays offense
  • Plays defense
  • Has one practice session
• Total session length: 60 minutes

Program Goals

• Create a fun environment where children and adults are actively engaged together
• Develop fundamental motor skills, teach baseball skills, and introduce basic rules
• Encourage success with an emphasis on respect and fair play
• Promote self-esteem among Rally Cap participants
• Recruit new coaches, parent helpers, and volunteers
