Baseball Manitoba offers a variety of divisions and programs for players of all ages and skill levels. Below is an overview of age groups, competitive levels, and programs available across the province.

Player Pathway

7U -> 9U -> 11U -> 13U -> 15U -> 18U -> 22U -> Senior

Additional programming is available through the 12U Girls and Challenger Baseball programs.

7U Rally Cap — Introduction to Baseball

Rally Cap is the entry point for young players. The focus is on learning basic baseball skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Players are introduced to throwing, receiving, hitting, base running, and teamwork through a mix of activities and short games. Everyone has the opportunity to try different positions and build confidence.

  • Age Group: 7 & under
  • Focus: Basic skills, confidence, fun
  • Format: Small rotating teams (approximately 6 players per team)

9U — Building Skills & Understanding the Game

At 9U, players continue to develop their skills while playing in a more structured game format.

Games are played 9 vs 9 using a pitching machine. This helps players build confidence at the plate while continuing to improve fielding, throwing, and base running in real game situations.

  • Age Group: 9 & under
  • Focus: Skill development and understanding game play
  • Format: 9 vs 9 with pitching machine

11U — Introduction to Competitive Baseball

The 11U division is the first level of formal competitive baseball. Player pitching is introduced, and teams may compete in Provincial Championships.

Some rule adjustments (such as no leadoffs) remain in place to support development and help players focus on pitching, fielding, and base running fundamentals.

  • Age Group: 11 & under
  • Player pitching introduced
  • Levels: A (development) and AA (more competitive)
  • Provincial Championships begin at this level

13U, 15U & 18U — Competitive Pathways

At 13U and above, players compete under full baseball rules and may have opportunities to advance beyond provincial play.

  • Inter-provincial events, such as Western Championships, begin at 13U.
  • National Championships begin at 15U.

These divisions offer tiered levels of play — A, AA, and AAA — allowing players to compete at a level that matches their development and goals.

22U & Senior — Continued Competitive Play

For players moving beyond youth baseball:

  • 22U Division: Competitive baseball for young adults
  • Senior Division: Open-age competitive baseball for adults

These divisions provide opportunities for players to continue playing and competing.

12U Girls Program

A program designed for girls aged 12 and under. The focus is on skill development, confidence, and creating a positive baseball experience.

Challenger Baseball

An inclusive program for players with physical or intellectual disabilities. The focus is on participation, skill development, and enjoying the game in a supportive environment.
