Overview
This page provides information on coaching education and development opportunities offered by Baseball Manitoba and Baseball Canada, including:
- NCCP Clinics
- Professional Development
- Apprentice Coach Program
- Annual Coaching Events
NCCP Clinics
Registering for Clinics: Register through your account at nccp.baseball.ca.
New Coaches:
- Create an NCCP account ($50)
- Complete:
- Coach Initiation in Sport
- Coach Initiation in Baseball
- Once complete, you can register for clinics and access coaching resources.
Available Clinics:
Clinics are offered in April and May each year.
- Baseball Manitoba hosts AAA clinics
- Local associations host Fundamentals clinics
- If none are listed in your area, contact your local association
Important Notes:
- You will receive a confirmation email upon registration (check your junk/spam folder and confirm your profile email is correct if not received)
- A reminder email will be sent 24 hours before the clinic
- Coaches must download and have ready all clinic materials provided in the confirmation email
- The Planning Clinic requires a pre-task (only required if you have not previously completed this clinic)
Hosting a Clinic: Local associations can apply to host a Fundamentals clinic using the NCCP Coach Clinic Host Application Form. Approved clinics will be posted and assigned a facilitator by Baseball Manitoba.
Professional Development (PD)
Baseball Canada encourages certified coaches to engage in ongoing Professional Development to maintain and enhance their coaching skills.
Maintenance of Certification:
- Coaches must maintain certification through PD activities.
- Head coaches at the AAA level in Manitoba must earn 20 PD Points over 5 years.
- Points earned outside the certification period do not count.

Apprentice Coach Program
The Apprentice Coach Program pairs new coaches with experienced mentors at all competitive levels (A, AA, AAA) and age divisions (11U-18U).
Apprentice Coaches must:
- Be accepted by a fully certified Head Coach at the appropriate level
- Be approved by the local baseball association
- Not be a parent of a player on the team
- Meet all screening requirements
- Be older than the athletes they are coaching
- Register on RAMP as an Apprentice Coach
Mentor Coaches must:
- Be approved by the local association
- Commit to supporting the Apprentice Coach throughout the season
Clubs Administering the Program must:
- Limit participation to two apprentices per team and one per mentor
- Ensure all screening requirements are met
- Identify Apprentice Coaches clearly on RAMP rosters
- Understand that Apprentice Coaches are not eligible for Western or National Championships
Future Coaching for Apprentices:
- A & AA Apprentices: One-season participation only
- AAA Apprentices: May participate for a second season after completing the Fundamentals of Coaching Baseball Clinic or the AAA Core Clinics (Absolutes, Planning, Make Ethical Decisions, Emergency Action Plan)
Annual Coaching Events
Coach Convention
Baseball Manitoba’s Coach Convention is a weekend professional development event designed for coaches at all levels. Attendees learn from experienced baseball professionals through presentations and workshops, gain practical coaching insights, and connect with other Manitoba coaches. Certified coaches attending the convention earn NCCP PD points.
Coach Symposium
The Coach Symposium is a one-day education event held in the summer that brings coaches together for presentations, group activities, and networking with guest speakers and Goldeyes coaching staff. The day also includes opportunities to observe batting practice and enjoy a Goldeyes game following the learning sessions.
