In 1952, under the leadership of Doug Cove of Winnipeg and Laurie Artis of Dauphin, the Manitoba Amateur Baseball Association was formed which has had as its primary purpose to organize and administrate provincial playoffs in various age categories. This organization stayed in place until 1966 when it became known as the Manitoba Baseball Association Incorporated. Following a successful tenure in minor age categories, this organization decided to join with the intermediate and senior baseball bodies to form the Manitoba Baseball Association (MBA) in 1968. At that re-organizational meeting, under President Murray Zuk, the MBA also affiliated with the Canadian Federation of Amateur Baseball. The aim of the association was to administer baseball throughout the province and provide a level of consistency in the process.

Current Information:

Baseball Manitoba is a Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) that presently serves approximately 15,000 members in Manitoba. Our organization is associated with the Canadian Federation of Amateur Baseball (Baseball Canada), which governs national and international competition. We are governed by a Board of Directors made up of voting delegates from leagues across the province. We also have a Management Committee composed of representatives from different regions of Manitoba who are elected by the Board of Directors at our Semi-Annual General Meeting (SGM), which takes place every fall. We are also supported by a large network of regional directors, delegates, league presidents, coaches, umpires, and volunteers who help promote baseball across the province, at both a grassroots and high-performance level.

Baseball Manitoba has five office staff who coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of the organization, which includes but is not limited to:

Coordinating and managing the registration of leagues throughout Manitoba.
Promoting participation, inclusivity, and opportunities for regular season play across the province.
Organizing and overseeing Regional Playoffs and Provincial Championships.
Delivering coach and umpire development clinics.
Providing technical support and assistance to leagues.
Communicating important updates and information to members through their website, social media, and email database.
