Proposed By-Laws

Governance Review & Proposed By-Laws

Over the past ten months, following the completion of Baseball Canada’s governance review process, Baseball Manitoba’s HR Committee has been engaged in a comprehensive governance review to ensure our organization is positioned to lead effectively, govern responsibly, and continue supporting safe, positive baseball experiences across Manitoba.

This work has included extensive discussion, refinement, online and in-person sessions, including a thorough review at Baseball Manitoba’s Annual General Meeting in March of 2026. The process has also been supported by independent expertise and made possible through the financial support of Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries.

Final Version

Baseball Manitoba is now sharing its Final Version, with the minimum sixty (60) days notice from the next Members Meeting.

This document is now final. It reflects the current position of the Management Committee, Executive Director and the greater membership, and is being shared intentionally and early to promote transparency, understanding, and meaningful engagement well in advance of any formal decisions.

The proposed By-Laws outline several proposed governance concepts, including:

  • A move toward a fully independent Board of Directors
  • Clear separation between governance and operations
  • A modernized voting structure
  • A skills-based nominations and recruitment process
  • A phased transition approach leading toward potential member consideration

No governance changes will be implemented without formal member approval. The final version of the By-Laws is subject to a vote of the membership at Semi-Annual General Meeting (SGM) - Sunday, October 18 at 10AM at the Clarion Hotel in Brandon.

2026 MOTION FOR RESULOTION - NEW BY-LAWS (SGM)

Transition Plan

If the new By-Laws are approved, we will move from the current system to the new structure in an orderly fashion. This is intended to ensure continuity of current operations while moving towards the new Board structure and election process. An Application process would begin immediately to attract new, qualified Board Members.

The proposed transition is designed to ensure that operations continue without disruption while the transition to the new governance model is completed. No changes will impact team operations, leagues, or provincial playdowns next season, and member support and regional input will remain in place throughout the transition.

We have listened carefully to Member concerns about transitioning to the new Board structure, and these provisions allow us to make that transition now.

If approved, the election of Directors would happen at the next AGM in the spring of 2027. Baseball Manitoba would immediately start the recruitment of a new set of Directors, including:

  • Three (3) Independent Directors
  • Two (2) Region President Directors (one from Zone 1 and one from Zone 2)
  • Two (2) Retired Player Directors (one male and one female)

Additional information regarding By-Law voting, the nomination/application process, and frequently asked questions will continue to be shared on this webpage and by mass emails to the membership as the process continues.

Thank you for your continued commitment to baseball in Manitoba and for your engagement as we work together to strengthen Baseball Manitoba for the future.
