Coaching Requirements

Overview

This page outlines all the requirements for coaches registered with Baseball Manitoba, including:

  • NCCP certification for your coaching level (A/AA/AAA)
  • Screening requirements to help ensure a safe sport environment
  • Respect in Sport (RIS) training
  • How to check your certifications
  • Transfer information for coaches trained under the former NCCP system

Use this page to ensure your certification and screening requirements are up to date.

NCCP Certification Requirements

All coaches (9U and up) are required to complete NCCP baseball training. Certification requirements vary by age and level.

Screening Requirements

All coaches and managers must meet Baseball Manitoba's screening requirements, which include background checks and other safety measures to support a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.

For full details, see: Screening Requirements (All Coaches/Managers)

Respect in Sport (RIS)

Baseball Manitoba and Sport Manitoba require all coaches and managers to complete the Respect in Sport (RIS) online course. This training supports safe, respectful, and inclusive sport by helping sport leaders recognize and respond to abuse, harassment, and bullying.

All coaches must recertify every 5 years to maintain an active RIS status.

To complete the training or locate your RIS certification number, click here.

Using an RIS Certification from Another Sport

If you completed RIS through another sport (other than Hockey), your certification remains valid. To use it for baseball registration:

  1. Log in to your RIS account.
  2. Click Profile at the top.
  3. Under Associations, check Baseball and click Save Now.

Your RIS certificate can now be used for baseball registration in RAMP.

Importing an RIS Certificate from Hockey

To import your hockey RIS certificate, click here and follow the prompts.

Check Your Certification

To verify your current NCCP training or certification status:

  • Baseball: Log in to your Baseball Canada coaching account at nccp.baseball.ca.

  • Multi-Sport: To access your coaching transcript for all sports, log in to your Coaches Association of Canada (CAC) account at thelocker.coach.ca.

Transfer Plan

Coaches who achieved certification under the former NCCP system (Levels 1-3, Regional/Provincial Trained or Certified) will see their status carried forward as "Transferred" in the current system.
