2021 Scholarship Winners Presented at Shaw Park

Tony Siemens, Baseball Manitoba's President, presented the Field of Dreams Scholarships and our 50th Anniversary Scholarships to all winners before the Goldeyes faced off against the Chicago Dogs Tuesday evening.

Awarded To/Accepted on Behalf Of Bennett Freiter - Field of Dreams

From St. Andrews and a member of the North Winnipeg Pirates, Bennett has competed at the Canada Cup, Western Canada Summer Games and The Toronto Blue Jays Tournament 12. He spent two years of his High School Career at the Okotoks Dogs Academy in Alberta. Bennet plans to continue his education and baseball career at North Dakota State University this Fall, playing baseball and majoring in Electrical Engineering.

From Winnipeg and a member of the Winnipeg South Wolves, Juni has been a Provincial Team player over the past few seasons and has previously been selected as the 13U Player of the Year in 2016 and the 15U Player of the Year in 2018. He plans to attend South Suburban College in South Holland, Illinois this Fall and is majoring in Biology.

Gavin is from Winnipeg and has been a member of the Bonivital Black Sox for the past five years. He played at the Western Canada Summer Games for Team Toba in 2019. He plans to attend the University of Calgary, where he will play baseball for the Dinos and major in Biological Sciences. Gavin's ultimate goal is becoming a doctor.

Baseball Manitoba 50th Anniversary Scholarships:

Awarded To/Accepted on Behalf Of John Patmore - Coach

From Pipestone and a former player on Team Manitoba at the 2017 Canada Summer Games, John is currently attending the University of Winnipeg and planning to become a teacher. He has remained busy with baseball, coaching the 13U Provincial Team for the past three years and is currently on the coaching staff for the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara, Ontario.

From Winnipeg, Donavan is a committed student and dedicated athlete. He is a member of the Winnipeg South Wolves and he played for Team Manitoba at the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games. He never missed a year of Honour Roll while at Oak Park High School, and will be attending Thompson Rivers University in BC, where he will play baseball and work towards his Business Degree.

Evan is currently an umpire for Brandon Minor Baseball, and has 5 years of experience behind him. He has recently been working at all levels of AAA. Because of his extensive background in and love for sports, Evan is attending the University of Saskatchewan majoring in Kinesiology and plans to become a Physiotherapist.

Liam is from Winnipeg and is a member of the Bonivital Black Sox. He is a dedicated student athlete who is always willing to volunteer within his community, and was the Valedictorian at College Beliveau. He will attend Carleton University in Ontario where he plans to play on the baseball team and major in Psychology.

From Carberry and member of 16U Team Manitoba, Zara has been a Team Toba player for the past five seasons. This year she began coaching by becoming an assistant coach for her community's softball team and was involved in our Girls Baseball Camps with head instructor Brittney Langlais. She will attend the University of Regina, majoring in Kinesiology and plans to become a Physiotherapist.
