2026 Scholarship Presentation at Blue Cross Park
Every year, all of us at Baseball Manitoba look forward to presenting our scholarships at Blue Cross Park. Last night, five Baseball Manitoba Scholarships, the Andrew Budge Memorial Scholarship, and three Field of Dreams Scholarships were presented to all recipients before the Goldeyes faced off against Kansas City.

Baseball Manitoba Scholarships:
Awarded To/Accepted on Behalf Of Kaleb Heppner - Access Credit Union Player (Non-Provincial Team) Scholarship

Kaleb is a 2026 graduate of W.C. Miller Collegiate in Altona, where he has maintained a strong 3.6 GPA to date while balancing academics, athletics, and community involvement. He currently plays for the 18U AAA South Central Cubs and is a well-rounded multi-sport athlete who also excels in basketball, volleyball, and cross-country. Beyond competing, Kaleb takes pride in giving back to his community by volunteering as a baseball and basketball coach and baseball official. This fall, he will continue pursuing his passion for athletics at the Prairie Baseball Academy while studying Exercise Science and Kinesiology at Lethbridge Polytechnic.

Awarded To/Accepted on Behalf Of Lincoln Carriere - On Deck Custom Apparel Provincial Team Player Scholarship

From Winnipeg, Lincoln is an accomplished athlete who currently plays with the 18U AAA North Winnipeg Pirates. He has proudly represented Team Manitoba at the 15U level and was selected to the 17U Provincial Team three times. Lincoln also had the honour of representing Manitoba at the 19U North American Indigenous Games, where he helped his team capture a gold medal. Beyond the field, Lincoln is committed to giving back to his community. He volunteers with Métis Youth & Elder grass-cutting initiatives and Challenger Baseball, a program that provides youth and adults with cognitive or physical disabilities the opportunity to play baseball. This fall, Lincoln will continue his academic and athletic journey at McCook Community College, where he will pursue his goal of becoming a physical education teacher.

Awarded To/Accepted on Behalf Of Caitlan Nickel - On Deck Custom Apparel Female Player Scholarship

From Brandon, Caitlan is a dedicated multi-sport athlete who played an important role with Baseball Manitoba’s 19U and Senior Women’s teams during the 2026 season. After suffering a broken femur last season, she remained committed to supporting her teammates and returned to competition with determination. Beyond athletics, Caitlan gives back through coaching and officiating volleyball, teaching beginner skaters through CanSkate, and volunteering with schools and community organizations throughout Brandon, including the Brandon Troyanda School of Ukrainian Dance, and the Westman Multicultural Festival. This fall, she will attend the University of Manitoba as a Track and Field student-athlete while continuing to train with Team Manitoba in the off-season.

Awarded To/Accepted on Behalf Of Noah Rempel - On Deck Custom Apparel Coach Scholarship

With a strong work ethic and a passion for helping others succeed, Noah has spent the past five years coaching 13U AAA baseball. As an assistant coach with the 13U Winnipeg South Wolves, he helped lead the team to a Provincial Championship and a fourth-place finish at the Western Canadian Championships last season. His passion for coaching stems from a desire to give back to the sport that played such an important role in his life. This fall, Noah will begin his final year of Education at the University of Winnipeg, with the goal of becoming a physical education or social studies teacher.

Awarded To/Accepted on Behalf Of Jory Levitt - Baseball Manitoba Umpire Scholarship

Jory is a dedicated Level 2 umpire from Winnipeg with five years of experience under his belt. He currently officiates and mentors in the Winnipeg South Minor Baseball Association and officiates in the Baseball Manitoba Premier Baseball League. Beyond the diamond, Jory has demonstrated strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills through the Junior Achievement Company Program, where he served as Vice-President of Marketing and helped contribute to an initiative that raised more than $2,000 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. This fall, Jory will attend the University of Miami, where he will begin his studies with the goal of pursuing a career in corporate law.
Andrew Budge Memorial Scholarship - Awarded To/Accepted on Behalf Of James "Jamie" Williamson:

From Reston, Jamie is a talented multi-sport athlete with an impressive baseball background, having competed at local, regional, provincial, and national levels. Throughout his career, he has represented several high-level teams, including the 18U AAA WestBran team and Baseball Manitoba’s 15U, 16U, and 17U Provincial Teams. He proudly gives back to the game as a coach with the 13U AAA Oildome team and has continued to develop as an official, earning his Level 3 umpire certification. This fall, Jamie will take the next step in his academic and athletic career at Valley City State University, where he will play collegiate baseball while pursuing a degree in education.
The Andrew Budge Memorial Scholarship is open to students entering the first year of a full-time post-secondary program at an accredited university or college. Andrew Budge was a talented Manitoba athlete from Winnipeg South who passed away suddenly in 2010 at the age of 24. Hockey, curling, golf, and of course, baseball were among his interests, and it was his passion and love for sport that inspired the creation of this scholarship. All of us at Baseball Manitoba want to thank Andrew’s mother, Wendy Budge, for coming to the event and presenting this scholarship.
Winnipeg Goldeyes - Baseball Manitoba "Field of Dreams" Scholarships:
Awarded To/Accepted on Behalf Of Cole Adamson - Field of Dreams Scholarship

From West Winnipeg, Cole is a standout catcher with the Baseball Manitoba 17U Canada Cup team and the Home Run Sports Training Centre Academy Varsity team. During an impressive 2026 season, he made only one error in 80 innings behind the plate. Off the field, Cole gives back through his school’s Leadership program, volunteering at community events, Christmas hamper initiatives, and programs supporting local seniors. This fall, he will attend McCook Community College in Nebraska on a baseball scholarship, with hopes of continuing to a four-year NCAA program while pursuing a degree in Exercise Science.
Awarded To/Accepted on Behalf Of Kien Coulter - Field of Dreams Scholarship

From Landmark, Kien has been a member of the 18U AA Carillon Sultans for three years, helping the team win back-to-back provincial championships in his first two seasons. As a multi-sport athlete, he has also competed in hockey, volleyball, and soccer, earning an MVP award at his varsity sports banquet. Kien has also given back to his community by helping organize clothing donations for families in need. This fall, he will attend the University of Manitoba to study microbiology before pursuing dental school, with hopes of specializing in pediatric dentistry and creating positive dental experiences for children.
Awarded To/Accepted on Behalf Of Soren Reid - Field of Dreams Scholarship

Coming from a family of multiple Baseball Manitoba Hall of Fame inductees, baseball has always been an important part of Soren’s life. In 2026, he was a starting pitcher and shortstop for Nellie McClung Collegiate and an integral member of both the 18U AAA Pembina Hills and Clearwater Senior baseball teams, competing in the Manitoba Premier and Border Baseball Leagues. Soren gives back to his community by maintaining the Manitou baseball diamond and coaching the 13U Manitou Royals. This fall, he will attend the University of Manitoba Faculty of Science with the goal of becoming a cardiologist. He has also signed with the Manitoba Bisons Track and Field team, where he will train and compete throughout university.
