Baseball Manitoba/Winnipeg Goldeyes Coaches of the Month for 2025 - National Coaches Week

Sep. 19, 2025

All of us at Baseball Manitoba would like to congratulate the following three individuals for being selected as the 2025 Baseball Manitoba - Winnipeg Goldeyes Coaches of the Month for May, June, and July.

Coach of the Month - May: Bryan Swaenepoel

Coached the U13 AAA Oildome Team in 2025

"The determination and never quit attitude that “Coach Swany” brought out in this group during the 2025 season will be remembered for years. In the provincial finals, Oildome trailed 12-1 after 4 innings of play, but the encouragement and attitude to never quit, kept them chipping away and sparking the bats for a comeback win of 22-13 over Pembina Hills to capture the Provincial title! Winning provincials sent them on the road to St. Albert, Alberta to compete in Westerns. Coming from behind in three of their four round robin games for a record of 4-0, landed them in the finals as the home team vs Richmond, BC. Heading into the bottom of the 7th inning down 9-5 the team once again, never gave up, battled, and scored 5 runs in the inning, for a walk off win 10-9. This team has been referred to as the “comeback kids” after an unforgettable season, under the calm, just keep going, never quit mentoring of Coach Swany!" said his nominator.

Coach of the Month - June: Eddie Cherwinski

Coached the 13U AA West Winnipeg Green Team in 2025

"I was watching several games throughout the weekend during the 13U AA and 15U AA West Winnipeg tourneys this weekend at Optimist Park, but when I was standing behind this team’s dugout, I noticed how much positive reinforcement [the coaches] were giving their team no matter what the play was. I also liked that when they players took any exception to an umpire’s call, they immediately shut it down and told their players that the umpires can see the plays better than the players can from the bench. For me it was not that they won the tournament, it was the positive culture they were creating for their players." said his nominator.

Coach of the Month - July: Scott Edwards

Coached the 13U AAA South Central Cubs Team in 2025.

"Scott is a coach that leads with integrity. He pushes his players to be the best version of themselves, while also focusing on being good teammates and opponents. At the end of the year the players (from various communities in our region) created strong friendships. Our team finished 2nd in Zone 2 in the regular season and went on to finish 2nd at provincials. We won the Brandon tournament at the end of June/early July. After qualifying for Westerns, our team went on to win silver at Westerns in Chilliwack." said his nominator.

Congratulations to Bryan, Eddie, and Scott, and thank you for all that you do for your community from all of us at Baseball Manitoba!
