Sport Program Coordinator - Summer Employment

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Baseball Manitoba (MBA) Sport Program Coordinator (SPC) will be responsible for aspects of programming and administration that are encompassed in grassroots athletes, coaches and umpires within Manitoba. There will be a primary focus on the Indigenous Community Development Program, Baseball5, 5 Tool Summer Camps, Coach Screening and Requirements checking, and working with under-represented populations in Manitoba. The employee will report directly to the Program Director on aspects as well as any other duties bestowed upon them.

Baseball Manitoba’s SPC will demonstrate a strong work ethic, high level of integrity and honesty. They must be attentive to detail, accurate in record keeping and possess an ability to work with a diverse constituency including players, parents, coaches, and volunteers. Baseball Manitoba will cover the phone plan costs and relevant job-related expenses during the time of hire. Baseball Manitoba will also cover mileage, meals, and accommodations, if required, for any approved travel around the province.


Areas of Responsibility:

The MBA SPC will be specifically responsible for the following list of responsibilities:


Safe Sport Program
- The SPC will be responsible for administering checks for all coaches, umpires and volunteers registered with the MBA. In accordance with MBA’s Screening Policy the SPC will track all members and communicate with them to ensure they follow the policy.

Indigenous Community Development Program (ICD)
- The SPC will assist in the coordination of the ICD Program. The SDC will support the Executive Director with the administrative duties for the ICD players and coaches. This will also include the promotion and scheduling of local programs in communities. The SPC must take a leadership role in the ICD Program and it will be the responsibility of the SPC to manage all aspects of this critical area of MBA operations.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - The SPC will be an MBA liaison and activity leader for all female, indigenous, Inner City, New Canadian, and other under-represented populations. The MBA’s SPC will Connect with MASRC, First Nation and Metis communities, and other organizations as required.

Camps and Clinics - This role will require the SPC to support the Program Director in the development and implementation of camps and clinics throughout the province. This includes, but is not limited to; 5-Tool Camps, Female Camps, Monster Mania, etc. The SPC will, in conjunction with the Program Director, organize, administer, and arrange for staffing of these events in a timely and efficient manner. If the SPC cannot attend an event in person, then an appropriate replacement(s) will need to be found.

Miscellaneous - The SPC may be given other duties by the Executive Director or Program Director which may include, but are not limited to, NCCP, NOCP, Online Membership Registration, and other required data entry or warehouse responsibilities. The SPC will report directly to the Program Director in all areas of operations.


Skills and Experiences:

• Demonstrate knowledge of baseball and a passion for the game.
• Must have a desire to be in an administrative baseball environment.
• Must have an excellent attitude and work well in a team setting.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrated organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of baseball programs, NCCP and LTAD principles.
• Must demonstrate the ability to work well with children.
• Working knowledge of computer programs and smartphone applications.
• Post-secondary education in Recreation management, or similar field is preferred.
• 2 years of experience in a related field is preferred.
• Must have their own vehicle and valid driver’s license, and a smartphone.
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends).
• Must have a current and clear Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Check.


Time of Work:

35 hours per week. May - August.
