The Youth Selects program is in its 21th year. This team will compete in the Baseball Canada Cup, the elite Baseball Canada High Performance vehicle that brings together the best 17 and under players from across the country. At the Cup, the players are scouted for opportunities to play on the national team. The 2010 Canada Cup will be held in Kindersley, SK on August 11-15. The 2010 Provincial Youth Team will be conducting open try-out camps for interested players, and you are invited. The camps will be held: Saturday, May 8 Andrews Field, Brandon 10:30 a.m Registration, 11:00 a.m. start Wednesday, May 12 Whittier Park, Winnipeg 5:30 p.m. Registration, 6:00 p.m. start Saturday, May 15 Republic of Manitobah Park, Portage la Prairie 10:30 a.m. Registration, 11:00 a.m. start NOTE: There is a $25 try-out fee for each camp. Players only need to attend one of camps. Those players selected from selected from this weekend will be asked back for the final selection camp on the May long weekend, May 22-23 at Whittier Park in Winnipeg. The Youth Selects team is for players 17 and under (1993, 1994, 1995) and will play in the Baseball Canada Cup in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, August 11-16. The Baseball Canada Cup tournament is scouted by many professional and college teams, and is used to select the Canadian National Junior team for the following year. Players must RSVP to the Baseball Manitoba office by Wednesday, May 5 if they intend to attend the camp. Please come prepared with your baseball equipment (glove, cleats, jacket, wood bat, hat, water bottle) ready to show off your talents.
