Youth Selects Team Announced
MANITOBA YOUTH SELECTS PROVINCIAL BASEBALL TEAM ANNOUNCED Baseball Manitoba is pleased to announce that the 2010 Youth Selects team has cut down the roster to 23 spots. The move to 23 players allows some flexibility due to injuries and club team conflicts. The final roster will be narrowed down to 20 players in late July. The Youth Selects are Manitoba’s elite 17 and under team, and will play in Baseball Canada’s premier event, the Baseball Canada Cup. The Baseball Canada Cup is used to select a training roster for the Canadian National Junior team, and is extensively scouted by professional and collegiate scouts. Since 1989, every province in Canada has sent their best players to the BaseballCanadaCup, making it Canada's premier amateur baseball event, involving over 300 athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers. This summer it will be staged in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, August 11-16. At the Baseball Canada Cup, Manitoba will compete in the same pool with Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, Alberta, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island. The 2010 Youth Selects will play exhibition games against teams in the Manitoba Junior Baseball League, and will attend the Legion Tournament in Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN. The players will stay play with their respective club teams. The 2010 schedule follows the list of players.
