21U Women’s Championship 2018 Tournament to be Held in Stonewall, Manitoba

History was made. The Women’s Invitational Championship Baseball Tournament was hosted in Manitoba for the first time last summer in Stonewall, Manitoba.

It was a two year bid and organizers are down to their last few weeks before their second phase of bringing top-level competitive ladies baseball to Stonewall in Manitoba Baseball’s milestone 50th Anniversary Year

Celebrating Bev Bragg, A Piece of West St. Paul Baseball History

50 years ago in 1968, West St. Paul Baseball was formed when Bev got together with Jack Balderstone, Corene and Hal Westburg. Since then, Bev has volunteered as the West St. Paul Baseball Convener and currently sits on the West St. Paul Recreation Committee in this role.  The role of convener includes scheduling the West St. Paul ball diamonds for games and practices as well as organizing all of the equipment for each team.  Bev also assigns the umpires for the Girls Softball games and make-up games. 

Umpire of the Month for May 2018

Baseball Manitoba would like to congratulate Trent Lepine on winning the Winnipeg Goldeyes Umpire of the Month for May 2018. Lepine has over 20 years of experience umpiring baseball in Canada.

"He is one of the most well-known and well-liked umpires in the baseball and softball communities," said his nominator. 

Al Robertson Throws First Pitch at Winnipeg Goldeyes Game

On May 28th, 2018, Al Robertson, who played an important part in Manitoba’s baseball history, threw the first pitch in a special Winnipeg Goldeyes game. This game was in celebration of Baseball Manitoba’s 50th anniversary, and the Winnipeg baseball team wore special jerseys as they went up against the Lincoln Saltdogs. The stands were filled with spectators enjoying the warm weather, and Robertson and his family viewed the game from seats right behind home plate.
