Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame Cancels Golf Tournament
It was a tough call - but the right call! The Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame has cancelled their First Annual Golf Tournament to be held in Neepawa Golf and Country Club on Monday, September 14th, 2020.
Taking into consideration the current situation in the province of Manitoba, the committee decided to regretfully scratch their tournament due to the Covid-19 outbreak in western Manitoba.
“Due to this tremendous support, we will look at holding our first tournament next year, around the same time of year, and then hopefully we can all enjoy everyone’s fellowship in a safe and secure environment,” stated Don Schmall, board member, Manitoba Hall of Fame Committee.
“After a thorough discussion the committee regretfully decided to cancel the tournament for this year. It was felt that existing restrictions would not allow for a safe, fun-filled event that would reflect the high standards of the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.”
“On a positive note, the committee received a high level of support from golfers for the concept of an annual golf tournament,” emphasized Dan Giesbrecht, President, Manitoba Hall of Fame Committee.
The tournament committee would like to extend their appreciation to all those baseball fans who had entered the tournament as participants as well as all our corporate sponsors who had come on board and help us promote this event.
‘The committee made a wise decision. Our first tournament does not need to have controversy surrounding it. Here is hoping for the chance to put on a great tournament next year,” concluded Kevin Booker, VP of High Performance, Manitoba and member of Manitoba Hall of Fame Committee.
